Sport is Fun

The attitudes of different groups to sport is a subject that has been well researched and research is ongoing (sportscoachuk.org). There is however consistent opinion that we should make sport fun in order to encourage more people to take it up and to ensure commitment from participants.

With the Olympics, London 2012, not far away, Britain is keen to ensure that our potential future athletes have the right attitude and commitment to sport.

As well as competitive sports events, such as Premiership Football, Tennis at Wimbledon, there are significant other benefits to sports that support the development of young people; health and fitness benefits, team playing and instilling commitment and perseverance to achieve a goal are useful life skills for anyone.

And it's not just for children! Organisations such as Make Sport Fun are promoting methods of overcoming the barriers that prevent young women and older women from taking up sport and exercise. They also provide access to free sports images to help promote sport activities.
